U.S.-UK Releases Joint Statement on Child Online Safety

They emphasized the importance of internet protections during G7 technology summit.

The United States and the United Kingdom called for improvements to online protections for children, announcing a joint working group to address the issue in a joint statement published last week.

“Children in the United States and the United Kingdom actively engage with social media platforms daily; upwards of six in ten 13 to 17-year-olds in the United States and United Kingdom report using TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram, whilst nearly nine in ten report using YouTube,” the two countries wrote. “In both countries, children report accessing social media at an early age.”

The statement was released during the G7 summit for technology, where participating nations discussed ways to partner with institutions and organizations to improve global online safety and industry.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Raimondo and Commerce Department officials as they collaborate on internet standards with other nations.
  • For the president, vice president, and Cabinet members to be discerning in their approach to online protections for minors.
  • For American parents to be prudent in allowing their children and teens access to social media and internet sites.
